Freelance Designer for a major Google+ Campaign Involving Premier League Clubs
Google+ aimed to be a formidable competitor to Facebook. To underscore Google’s cultural relevance in the UK, the marketing team initiated a campaign involving 30 Premier League and Championship football clubs, providing them with exclusive Google Trends data.
Creative Challenges
Over a span of nine months, I designed 150 Google Trends visual assets that collectively garnered over 550,000 Facebook likes, more than 60,000 Google+ +1s, and over 14,000 retweets on Twitter.
These assets were promoted across various platforms, from social media posts by star players like Wayne Rooney to in-stadium big screens and printed matchday programs, generating over £500,000 in earned media.
Campaign
I supplied clubs, ranging from Chelsea to Manchester City, with animated GIFs and physical display boards.
These were initially shared exclusively on the clubs’ Google+ pages and subsequently cross-promoted on Facebook and Twitter.
The campaign successfully positioned Google+ pages as must-visit destinations for fans, reinforcing Google’s local relevance in the UK.
